East Baton Rouge Parish (Baton Rouge, Baker, Zachary, Central) dumps, transfer stations & drop-off sites

Checked Oct 26, 2026 Official source: City of Baton Rouge / Parish of East Baton Rouge Department of Environmental Services

The City-Parish Department of Environmental Services runs the North Landfill in Zachary, where parish residents can drop off household garbage and trash free with proof of residence, and the Starwood Court self-service collection site in Baton Rouge for bulky items, scrap metal and yard waste. A 24-hour recycling drop-off is open at the Materials Recovery Facility on Tom Drive, and household hazardous materials are taken only at twice-a-year collection days.

Who can use them

East Baton Rouge Parish residents dump household garbage and trash at the North Landfill free by showing a Louisiana driver's license or other government ID with a parish address, or a utility bill. Out-of-parish users may use the landfill but pay tipping fees. The Starwood Court collection facility is for parish residents only (driver's license or utility bill). The recycling drop-off is open to the public.
